Powerful Puppets

Powerful Puppets

Puppets can be a very powerful tool in helping children to understand both simple and more complex issues.  The learning through the experience of others (the puppet) allows them to observe the situation in the third person and also to offer their own thoughts and ideas in a safe and constructive way – particularly if the puppet has been designed to represent a character similar to themselves.

TheBig Bucket Full of Personal Development Puppets provides a comprehensive ‘off-the-shelf’ resource package for exploring 'personal development' with children between the ages of 5 to 11.

Using specially written puppet shows/stories, activities and role-plays (all based around personal development & social skills) the children can discover and learn with the character puppets in a fun, interactive and experiential way.

The 30 page resource manual contains 6 puppet show scripts for the teacher/facilitator to deliver (with or without an 'assistant puppeteer').

All of the puppet shows/stories revolve around PSHE and include appropriate 'audience' (children) participation.

# 1

Cog has an argument with Attichooz and sets out to find a new friend who is exactly the same as himself.

# 2

Social Skills

Cog has been given two tickets to see his favourite pop-star from Mylife's Got Talent.  But which friend should he invite to go with him?

# 3

Someone has overslept and there are only a few minutes to catch the bus to school.

# 4

Money wise

Attichooz & How2 are having trouble deciding whether to 'raid' their savings tin or not.

# 5

Being Angry

Moood is annoyed with How2 as he was late for the picnic but then something else makes her feel absolutely furious!

# 6

Cog is worried because he feels everyone is putting pressure on him to keep their secrets.

As well as the stories/shows, the easy-to-photocopy resource book hosts 12 role-play scenarios for the children to enact.  These role-play scenarios are a fun and exciting way to explore the various ways of viewing problems. You can use them as audience participation at puppets shows; as a whole lesson plan for the classroom; or as a team building exercise in the training room.

For example:-

"Moood, how does that make you feel?  How do you think Cog is feeling?  How do you think Good Habbit is feeling as you are late for her party?"

"Bad Habbit, what would make things worse!"

"Good Habbit, how could things have been improved?"

TheBig Bucket of Personal Development Puppets can be used over and over and over again!  It is a fantastic resource for any classroom or training room.  Grown-up's can easily adapt the shows & scenarios into the board/sales training rooms!   At the end of each day everything fits nicely back into its bucket for easy storage.

The only limit to how this resource can be used is the limit of your own imagination!
